As part of the Panda Restaurant Group, it has established itself as a leader in the Asian food segment, with a presence that spans over 2,400 locations across the globe, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, and several countries in Asia and the Middle East[1][3]. Founded in 1983 by Andrew and Peggy Cherng, Panda Express has grown from its humble beginnings in Glendale, California, to become the largest Asian-segment restaurant chain in the United States[1].
Panda Express is known for its diverse menu, which includes popular dishes such as Orange Chicken, Sweet Fire Chicken Breast, Beijing Beef, and Kung Pao Chicken. The chain also offers premium options like Honey Walnut Shrimp and Black Pepper Angus Steak, catering to a wide range of tastes and dietary preferences[1]. The Alabaster location, like many others, operates as a fast-food restaurant, offering takeout, delivery, and catering services. This flexibility allows customers to enjoy Panda Express’s signature dishes in various settings, whether dining in, picking up, or having meals delivered to their doorstep. The restaurant’s inclusion of Chinese noodle and wok dishes further enhances its appeal, providing a comprehensive dining experience that blends traditional Chinese cooking techniques with modern convenience[2].
Panda Express has been successful in maintaining its market share through a combination of innovative menu offerings, strategic expansion, and a strong focus on customer satisfaction. The company’s commitment to quality ingredients and preparation methods, such as wok-cooking in small batches, ensures that its dishes are consistently flavorful and authentic[3]. Moreover, Panda Express has embraced technological advancements, incorporating automated woks to enhance operational efficiency while preserving the quality of its menu items[3].
In terms of customer service, Panda Express aims to provide a welcoming experience, though some locations, like the Alabaster branch, have faced challenges in maintaining consistent service quality. Reviews highlight the importance of attentive service, especially in fast-food environments where speed and accuracy are crucial[2]. Despite these challenges, Panda Express remains a popular choice for those craving American Chinese cuisine, with its iconic dishes often satisfying cravings for familiar flavors.

The food is great! It's what you expect from Panda Express. The people there just seem like they are rushing you out though. I'm sure it's what management wants, it's just a little jarring. Next time, it will be a to go order instead.

This one-star review has nothing to do with their food, because I never even got any. I stood in line for 15 minutes (before eventually leaving and going somewhere else), and in that time they only managed to serve TWO customers. And no, that is not an exaggeration. At the rate they were going it would have been another 15 to 20 minutes in line, and they weren't even busy. There were legitimately six or seven people ahead of me in line, and the dining room maybe 20% full. I've never seen a "fast food" joint move so slowly. I seriously could have gone to a real Chinese restaurant, sat down at the table, ordered from a menu, and had my food in the time it would have taken me to even be served at this place. The food is already cooked and literally just has to be scooped onto a plate. Do your employees need more training so they can better understand this skill? Your low rating on Google is clearly justified.

People here are great. Helpful and cheerful. Food is normal for Panda. Parking lot is weird. Drive through is not for full size trucks.

Today, August 7, 2022. I ordered 2 half fried, black pepper chicken and the black angus steak which I had to pay $1.60 more for. Also, I ordered the spring rolls and they were cold. My 2 orders of cheese Rangoon wasn’t just cold but hard and very crispy like it had been sitting out for a while. I’m very disappointed with my order. Also, the black pepper steak I paid extra for was only 3 or 4 piece’s of meat the rest were vegetables. that’s it. They added so many mushrooms and a dark green vegetable to it that makes it seem like you have steak but you don’t. I took pictures so you can see exactly what I receive. However, I didn’t realize it until I started looking for my meat otherwise I would have ask for a refund just like asked for cheese Rangoon. Plus, I called and talk to the young lady there and told her to put light soy sauce in my fried rice because I didn’t want it white but as you can see from my pictures she didn’t do it. I will not be ordering from them again. Celebrating Birthday was very disappointing with Panda Express. However, I would like to say that I did call but the manager wasn’t there and I talked to Blessing ( young lady) she offered to give me another orde
